Today, 10 September 2024, on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day the institute of Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology (IPP) at the University of Duhok in coordination with the louts Flower Organization and General directorate of Health in Duhok (DoH), organized an event under the theme of “Changing the Narrative of Suicide”. The event took place at the University of Duhok campus institute of Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology. Various governmental institutions, universities, and humanitarian organizations, participated in the event. Dr. Buhar Issa IPP vice- dean warmly welcomed guest and participants in a welcoming speech and highlighted the contributions of IPP in the field of mental health specifically the Hotline team. Ms. Vian Ahmed also welcomed the participants and mention the role of Louts Flower project in Suicide prevention. However, Dr. Nawzad Sami representative of DoH addressed the attempts efforts of DoH in Suicide Prevention in the Duhok Governorate.

On the other hand, short videos were presented about Suicide prevention, one short video from the Louts Flower organization which focused on dealing with suicide thoughts in different location as school, while, IPP presented a short video about the Suicide Prevention Hotline structure and activities.

Furthermore, IPP team members Mr. Bashar Ahmed and Mr. Karzan Abdultif addressed the concept of Suicide in a brief presentation. Similarly, Ms Randan from the Louts Flower organization presented success stories as outcome of their suicide prevention work in the humanitarian setting especially.

Lastly, Dr. Buhar Issa appreciated the participation of guest and thanked the organization of the event.
