IPP Addiction Team Visit to Germany
On 25 November 2025, the IPP addiction team from the University of Duhok participated in a practice-oriented training program at the Psychotherapy Clinic for Addiction Treatment in Stuttgart, Germany.
This program followed the theoretical training conducted in Duhok in June 2025 and aimed to introduce the IPP addiction team—psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and social workers—to practical treatment methods used in German clinics and hospitals.
The seven-day training focused on theoretical input and structured clinical observations across various addiction-care facilities in Stuttgart and Tübingen. The program was designed to provide insight, applied knowledge, practical skills, and evidence-based approaches that can be implemented in everyday clinical practice.
The IPP addiction team observed the work and treatment procedures in hospitals, clinics, addiction-care wards, and outpatient units. They were introduced to the full workflow—from intake to case closure—through presentations delivered by psychiatrists, medical doctors, and social workers in the institutions visited.
The addiction team at IPP will apply and implement the knowledge and experience gained in the fields of mental health and addiction at the University of Duhok, specifically, and in the region more broadly, to enhance the effectiveness of treatment methods.
